just got the new market apk, i havent tried it yet but if anyone wants to give it a go, a word of advice though is make sure you have a copy of the market as it is now, just in case of any problems.

new market

just tried it and it force closes everytime you try to download, dont bother.

There are loads of threads all over android forum regarding the new market. I dont like the look of it personally they remind me of windows 7 phone! Yuck!

yeah i saw it after i posted this! i cant get it to work, keeps force closing. think ill wait until the official ones out for us, unless someone figures it out.

I think I just uninstalled the existing market using Ti, then installed the apk...

...then uninstalled it after a few minutes.

See above - it installed for me, I just didn't think it was an improvement.

Edit: should clarify - it installed and ran, but I didn't keep it long enough to check I could install apps using it.

Sorry I didnt read the whole thing.. This market is very hit and miss atm kinda like marmite! Either you love it or you dont!

yes it works perfectly for me ive been using it since it was leaked yesterday, you need s-off for ease of use as you will need to set permissions to the directory which i cant remember how to do via adb and recovery

these are the things you need to do

use rootexplorer (or alternative that actually works the same way)
go to system/app and rename Vending.apk to Vending.apk.old
copy Vending.apk.old to a safe location on your sdcard
copy the new market Vending.apk to system/app and rename it to Vending.apk (cant remember its original name)
set permissions user - read, write. Group - read, write. others - Read, execute.
reboot phone to recovery, wipe dalvic cache and reboot. wait for a long time

once done the new market will work. be warned the 1st time you use it its slow and sluggish as its caching a lot of shit
when you use it again its fine

always wipe dalvic when changing system programs with another

Is this the reason it force closed all the time then?
What do you think about it?
yes it is the reason its force closing

i dont mind it, the 1st page is a little windows7 like but to be fair the windows 7 look works for the market type stuff better than it does as an os.
it makes quite a lot of sense and imo a welcome improvement.

if you are using root explorer, hold down on the apk in system/app and click permissions

lol don't know what ya all on about pushing it through adb, and renaming it in root explorer or whatever, I downloaded it then just installed the apk through astro, works perfectly fine for me

it shouldnt do, its a system app and if you read someone else has already tried that and it force closes

Like rasta says, its a system app and will likely cause a conflict on most devices. You should definitely adb push or replace with Root explorer for the best experience.
