New Market App on Prevail

Has anyone gotten the new Market app the normal way: as in it automaticaly being downloaded to your phone or using the old market app or laptop to select it to be downloaded to your Prevail?

I ask because I got it from a thread here somewhere and I am wondering if it is official for the Prevail yet. I heard that it was being rolled out gradually. I have not really had any problems with the app, I have not done a reset on my phone since I got it. Has anyone used the new app to reload apps after a reset?

I have not seen the new one on my optimus, using normal update.
I put the new one on my prevail, added it to shabbymod.

Are you referring to the Amazon AppStore for Android ? If so I have this already.

No. There is a new Android Market app from Google that is drastically different. A lot of folks like the old one better. This new one adds other media in addition to apps. Apparently, not all phones are getting it at the same time and I do not think that the Prevail has it yet. But, you can download it from another thrread on this forum. It seems to work OK with possibly a few quirks.

I like the new one, it goes with the royal v2 theme.
 
I answered my own question, with a new phone. Of course, the phone came with an old version of market, but one of the first things it downloaded was the new version of itself. Not sure how it decides when to do it on existing phones.
 
I did quite a few resets in the past few days working on my phone. Sometimes it immediately downloaded t but now that I've fnished putting everything back on my phone and reset it I have the old market. So who knows.
 
Still haven't this. Can we get the new screen shot for this? I think I already have this and I might not even know.

You'd know if you had it, it looks nothing like the original.

I actually stumbled on to the new market by mistake, when I downloaded the game "Aliens Invasion", it has a button in the main menu that was clickable that said "more games", it took me to that game companies other games and also automatically loaded the new market. From then on I always have it.
 
I tried downloading that game, and when I clicked new games it did indeed look like a new type of market. But whenever I use my market straight from my phone it's still old :(
 
i got the gayass update like a day ago when i waz on the can and checked out the market and it waz all changed up i hate it the old style waz smoother on the previal
 
Did this update increase the app upload size for developers that theyve been talking about? Google has been promising an increase from 50mb limit to something like 4g. I havent been able to find anything solid confirming this.

Yeah, I like it too. I doubt I will use it to buy books, movies, music, etc. but who knows.

One thing I have been noticing about it though. It seems to hang when I launch it while I am connected to WIFI. On 3g it launches fine. I actually got one force close on it once when I was on WIFI. It may just be something to do with my cheap Virgin Mobile internet modem plugged into a cheap Cricket wifi hub. Anyway, it is pretty consistant. Most things usually run better connected to WIFI since I have a weak Boost signal.

I will try it at work and see if I have the same problem.

Correction. There is a problem, but now I think it may be more related to Market running and I have switched from WIFI to 3g or vice versa and then gone back into market again. It seems like it is having trouble switching over and hangs for a long time. The old market was faster.

It took several logins to the Market before mine started loading like it should . The first couple of times it seemed like it took forever ! :eek:
 
I agree with the above statements as well. The hanging process is annoying but I am wondering if it's an API issue.
 
After getting off to a slow start , my new Market app is now loading much faster than the old app . The new look just takes a little getting use 2 . So far , I'm very pleased with it . :-)
