Help New metro pcs tethering throttling problem.

I noticed my hotspot was working amazingly well. Suddenly I get a message on my phone "your hotspot has nearly reached ours limit"
I've been on the $60 using the apn/dun/UA switcher but now metro gives me 8 gig then throttles me down to the point it is almost unusable. The workaround no longer works. Any help would be appreciated.

I tried that app but can't figure out how it works.

I also tried foxfi but despite not hitting my tether limit I was getting under 1mbps upload and download while bluetooth tethering.

I got throttled horribly recently in more ways than one. My LTE is throttled down to 50 KB/s download and 15.60 mb/s upload.

My 4G however is not. My 4G speeds are 9.50 mb/s download and 9.50 mb/s upload. Yeah... Odd I know.

They throttled my tethering speeds as well. Haven't been able to break away from this issue until today. I made a backup of my ROM and was goofing around installing the brokenOS ROM. Well it installed badly with no net app or play store so I went back to recovery to restore my stock backup.

I did a wipe of my cache, dalvik cache, system. Crap... Not the system.... Well. I hit restore on my stock recovery. It restored just fine. However now I am able to tether full speed again with my WiFi hotspot and I have 4 clients connected to me as well.

I don't know if the wipe on my system did anything or not. I figured when I restored the stock recovery it put everything back to how it was before I accidentally wiped it. But maybe not. Maybe there was something it knocked out that isn't usually backed up in TWRP.

If anyone else who is currently throttled and has a complete ROM backup feels like testing this out. Then by all means. Give it a shot please and tell me how it works for you.

Also. I edited the main APN file in my phone to delete the default tether APN for T-Mobile/metropcs. It keeps itself hidden but it makes you connect to a different server for tethering. Which could also be how they see when and how you are tethered. You will see it in your APN file in your system area in your ROM. Called like pcweb.metropcs.com. I completely removed that entry and saved the file then delete all my current apns with APN backup and restore from the play store.

there's no more free tether. give up already
You right when you say there is no free tether. We pay for unlimited data and the carrier doesn't get to dictate how we use it. Version already lost this battle. TMobile and metro have been spreading a lot of propaganda recently about cracking down on data hogs but there is nothing behind it, they are just doing what they can to block it and convince you you are doing wrong to slow down people's likelihood of starting a class action suit the customers will win.

Don't be fooled, you buy a product (unlimited data) and that's the product you should get, the fine print they try to change in the TOS doesn't hold up in court.

The EasyTether app by Mobile Stream works for me for the most part (MetroPCS $60plan). I'm using their verison w/o root. It is USB tethering only though, Also go to http://www.apkutilizer.com and search easytether or not, no one's forcing you to...
