Root new NC has ver 1.1 -upgrade before root?

First off - I wanted to take a second to say hello to everybody on this forum and thanks to the gurus around here that really help the rest of us out

I've been around for awhile and visit AF almost daily I just don't post much unless I have a problem or feel like I have something contributory to add

I started off with a Hero, which I keep around as a backup tether -just in case -and have long since moved on to an EVO as the daily driver.

Now after reading all the praise for the NC- last night I added a NC to the mix

So all that ramble leads to my question - my nook has ver. 1.1.0
Is there any reason to upgrade or not upgrade before rooting?

What do you want to do with it?

If you want a tablet, no need to do anything, just flash it with CM7 and enjoy.

If you want a reader that you can install market apps you might want to run stock rom.

In order to view web pages that include Flash content, you'll need to upgrade or go with a custom rom like CM7.

But it depends on what you want to do with it.

You can install reader apps with CM7 and get most of the capability that the stock Nook provides. :D

Actually I had thought about a dual boot but then really there's nothing that the NC really offers for me as a reader that the nook, kindle and aldiko apps can't do so I would have to say that I probably just need to load cm7 - so are there any hiccups that I should be aware of.
thanks

Stock Nook has slight advantage as a reader, but sucks as a tablet IMO. :D

I'd follow the instructions to install CM7, that install via a bootable sdcard (3rd section). You might want to install 7.1.0 RC1, as it's a slightly newer version.

OTOH, if you wait until tomorrow, you could install a nightly version that has the kernel pre-installed. The nightly builds are pretty stable these days.

to be honest the biggest hassle was getting netflix to work
That turned into a several hour ordeal but it works fine now

Does anybody have any experience with HBO Go - it stops and has to be force closed when you click the sign in button

I have uninstalled and re- installed, cleaned cache, rebooted you name it multiple times with same results

thanks again
