New Nexus 5, unhappy

Couldn't they approve all the components? Wouldn't this intently imply approval of a device built with the components?
Well, not really. It isn't that simple. You could potentially generate a lot of different radio waves with the same components, including how those components are oriented to each other.

Even something as simple as changing the battery could change the output, and in some handheld devices, could then make that device no longer FCC certified or compliant. Then of course there is the issue with shielding.

Is something like this likely to cause significant interference, etc? Well, no, but you have to draw the line somewhere, better safe than sorry, and all that.

I know there were some issues in the beginning dealing with MMS, but I think it's mostly been cleared up by this point.

In the very beginning there were issues with mms.I have zero issues these days and actually like hangouts.

Lets see....2 weaknesses.

1. Internal Battery (can't change it)
2. No external memory.

1. I, too, would have preferred a removable battery, although I believe it is not too difficult to open the case and change the battery. Mind you, I wouldn't bother to do that whilst the phone is in warranty.

2. Although there is no SD card slot, this item that was mentioned right at the beginning of the thread:

Dash Micro by Meenova, the all new Mini MicroSD Reader

fulfills the same thing. After a year's use, I have nowhere near used all of my internal memory but, if and when that situation arises, I shall almost certainly buy one of these.

My last 2 phones both had a removable battery and an SD slot, never needed them.

Of course different users have different requirements but my battery has always lasted and I use the cloud (and Nexus media importer with an OTG cable) for all my storage needs.

Luckily on Android there's plenty of choices out there to suit what one wants :)

Not many devices offer sd storage anymore and this feature seems to be dissapearing! Hangouts works great as a messaging app and if you dont like it you can use any other one your heart desires from the play store! I use chomp sms which works great. The only reason I dont use hangouts is because I like a pop up when I get an sms and as of now hangouts doesnt offer one.

Wow! Very old post however I also use chomp SMS and I truly enjoy the customization of the app. Also not to mention there is strong support from the Dev and it has performed perfect.

The 15gb of free storage through google drive and 12gb on board is the nexus 5's SD card 😉. You can always get more storage too if you need it.
