Help New one on me...HTC Desire

Can anyone help? Out of the blue my htc desire has thrown up a strange problem.... whenever i ring someone, or receive a call the phone puts the call on speakerphone as the default. i have to remember to switch off the speaker straight away otherwise the conversation if public... i havent done anything to cause this that know of but i cannot find any settings to get it back to how it was.
up until recently when i rang someone or they rang me it would go to my earpiece and i would have to click on the speaker icon to transfer it to speaker.
anyone know how i can get it back to how it was?

cheers will try it...been thinking it must be a settings option but never thought to reset... will let you know how it works..

Thats certainly one of the causes, which can often be instogated by a foreign object in the USB socket.

Mine did this though, and didnt think it was in car mode. Battery pull resolved.
 
Another thread on here discussing the same thing with various people having same problem. Seem to have been resolved either by a battery pull or very carefully clearing out the USB socket of lint etc. Good luck.
 
I had this after less than a month of owning the Desire. It appears to be a known fault that can happen. People on this thread have already mentioned the many probable causes. I tried everything but sadly no joy- my problem remained and had to send it for repairs. :( Good luck and hopefully the solutions mentioned above help you- its awful to be without the phone! I now have to send off for reapirs as my GPS isnt working!
