Root New ota update not available

I have a rooted bionic but no roms. Every time I go to about phone and system updates, it says, sorry check for strewn updates is currently unavailable at this time. Please try again later.

I called verizon and they told me that the update wasnt released to everyone yet???

What the heck is up? I live in the Atlanta area, surely I should have the update by now!
 
I got that error message ... tried latter ... got the same message ... tried later got the same message ... tried later got their "your device is up to date" message ...

I stopped asking.

Verizon then pushed notification to my phone that the update was available and asked if I wanted to install it.

I got mine notice about 12 hours after others reported they got theirs.

I have heard no explanation of how they are deciding what phones they are notifying.

I could find no explanation on Verizon website.

I called in today and their solution was to send me a new bionic....sigh. Now I have to unroot this once, install all my stuff over again...

The bright spot was the tech said id this didn't work and another trouble ticket couldn't fix my problems, they would void my contract. That would allow me to upgrade and sell my bionic. Not really a fan of the razr or nexus so I doubt I would use our but its good vzw is trying
 
I just found out that to get the availablity message broadcast to you you can not be roaming and perhaps you can not be on a Wifi connection.

Are you not doing either for about an hour?

(I am on Wifi 98% of the time. As maemry sserves me I got my notice after getting off Wifi.)

I am absolutely fed up with the games. I bought my phone outright, plus alot of accessories. I demand to be able to do what I want, when I want. If I pay for it, it's none of their or anyone else's business. I want my update to fix the bugs they decided wasn't important enough to fix befote introducing it. Can you tell I'm pissed.

I'm not sure what you're asking.

The stability of the network (on both ends) is a problem that is being worked on. I would term it "growing pains to get to 4G"). We are looking forward to it getting behind us. If it unacceptable there are alternative 3G solutions that you might want to try.

If you did not get the 5.5.893 OTA yet I suggest you contact Verizon. You could get it from ... http://androidforums.com/motorola-droid-bionic/438060-bionic-reference-terms-links.html#post3398984 ... in this forum. The leak is identical to the OTA that was released. This solution would not correct your possible messed-up records at Verizon.

For "do what I want" ... well ... within some bounds. Coming up with a scheme to steal rented movies or bypass some Verizon service costs are two examples of what isn't allowed (even though it is on your device).

I just find it insulting that they can't get me the update and their solution is turn it to cdma only. Why did I buy a 4g phone and why am I paying 50 bucks a month for 5GB of 3g data??? They have been less than impressive

Verizon/Motorola are not playing games with you... they do not and can not provide support for a rooted phone for good reasons... They can't be certain of what changes you made to the phone.

So yes it is your phone and you are allowed to do with it what you please... but don't blame them for something you chose to do it knowing full well it was something that came with possible risks.

You should at least try to see if they will double your data. Call VZW ask about the double tha data promo. I think it is still active.
