New phone or wait?

I know this topic has been discussed here ad nauseam, but this one is mine.
I still have the OG A855 Droid and I AM TIRED OF IT.
This phone was great years ago, but it just plain sucks now.
I am at that crossroad like many of us are.
I have decided to no longer wait for the rumored Bionic and just get something else now.
I prefer dual core and 4g, but those are few and far between.
Must be verizon network.
So, I want something android 4g and good.
I was looking at the thunderbolt, but people constantly complain about the battery life (or lack there of).
Suggestion?
I was thinking CHARGE, but I have two friends that have 'em and they both have had warranty issues as well as constant crashing.
Uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuugh...

I got a motarola atrix about two weeks ago. its is a dual core 4g phone like u want. the battery life is decent. it will last me all day, with about 40% left and i use apps/internet about 1 1/2 hrs a day. i use the flashlight app that uses the flash from the camera quiet often to. i would recomend this phone, its a great choice.

Looks like an ATT only phone though

Sooooo what exactly do you want us on the forum here to do? You decided not to wait, so you basically have 2 plausible options for phones...Bolt or Charge. You have heard bad about both. You're kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place my friend.

Why don't you keep your droid and at least get grandfathered in to the tiered data plan era. I'm sure Verizon will be rolling out some new phones in the next month or two...can't you wait?

I had the Thunderbolt for a few weeks and nothing was wrong with it other than battery life, which I purchased an extended battery for to fix. I didn't have any rebooting issues or any of that, luckily. The only thing that I didn't like about it was 4G going in and out. I decided to get rid of it until the network bugs get worked out a bit. Can't provide any input regarding the charge, but I've heard people liking it over the Bolt.

I was looking for exactly what you offered, your opinion.
I take what i hear with a grain of salt... 1 or 2 gripes arent fact to me.
I read a lot of the verizon's website reviews on the phones and for the most part they seem good.
Thanks for your input!

I'd take Verizon's reviews with a grain of salt as well. Lord only knows what kind of people are on there posting 10 word reviews.

A site like this is probably quite helpful...mainly because it contains some people who know a little bit about what they're talking about. But, like everyone is complains about currently...there aren't a lot of options for 4G smartphones. Sucks. :(

i whole heartedly agree, but there are over four hundred reviews and some are bound to be true!

Why not the LG Revolution?

LTE is tough on the battery although it has the most long term potential in speed. If you are wary about battery consumption, you can stay safely with 3G and your options might be either the Droid Incredible 2 or the Droid X2 if you want dual core.

Droid 3 seems to be coming soon with dual core but if you want to wait for dual core and 4G LTE, you would have to wait longer for the Droid Bionic.

If you want something faster than 3G but not with the battery drain of LTE, then your choices will go out of Verizon and into the other carriers.

WiMax with Sprint, the best choices appear to be the EVO 3D and the Nexus S 4G. The EVO 3D here is the dual core.

HSPA+ with T-Mobile, the best choices appear to be the HTC Sensation, Optimus G2X and the upcoming MyTouch 4G Slide. All three is dual core.

HSPA+ with AT&T, the dual core would be the Motorola Atrix. This would be a great phone if it gets Gingerbread which is rumored to be coming soon. If you want to stick with single core but with HSPA+, the HTC Inspire and Samsung Infuse 4G seem quite popular.

The thing is, it's impossible to say what your experience with either phone will be. They produce these things in mass, so bad phones/bad batches are bound to slip through. I have called into warranty with issues they had never heard of, and have owned phones with "known problems" that never plagued me.

Why not the LG Revolution?

The reason for this, for me, was because of a review that compared a number of specs in great detail and, surprisingly enough, the LG Revolution was worse than both the Thunderbolt and the Charge in a lot of categories and it was rarely ahead of the other two (and when it was, it wasn't by much). Overall, it's a very average phone at best with no real strengths apart from the fact it comes stock with Netflix (if you care about that kinda of thing, then it might be your best bet but from what I understand, Netflix is on the verge of release for the charge).

I'll try and find the review I was reading and post it here.

im thinking more along the samsung because of the pos review of it. The LG didnt excite me one bit IMO

I'd wait if I were you. Lots of new dual core phones should be coming out, hopefully some withe LTE.

The OG Droid is still less than 2 years old...not a bad phone, just not the greatest.

Talk about less than desirable - I put up with my Samsung Moment for almost a year before I had to pay almost retail for my Evo / Epic. I love my Evo / Epic. Hold out for a while longer.
