Just dropping a line as a new Photon owner.

I have owned several android devices and the Photon is an upgrade from my HTC Shift.

I currently also have a Sony S Tablet.

Welcome! The Photon is a great phone. Stable, rock solid radios, and excellent sound quality. I have not regretted buying mine!

WELCOME to the MO'PHORUM,DAVE!:D

An upgrade from the EVO SHIFT indeed.

IMHO,you made a solid choice, this phone has a lot going for it,not to mention the upcoming upgrade to ANDROID 4.0 ICS in Q3 2012.

BTW,what are your overall thoughts on the SONY S TABLET?

My wife's HTC EVO Shift routinely gets two days service on a charge.
My Photon has never gone more than a day without requiring a charge.

The Photon is a much better phone, but the EVO Shift does have a better battery life.

Thanks everyone, loving my Photon.

I have noticed that the phone does drain pretty fast. I have a data on/off widget that seems to help a bit. I have a charger at my home/work/car so I am covered.

As to the "S" I absolutely love it. The form is awesome and allows me to hold it for reading all day. There are a few issues, but nothing that is crucial for me.

Get familiar with the battery saver settings. Those really do work and help a lot.

LOL...My cousin has the EVO shift. My battery life kills his and our usage is about the same (I'd say I even text message more than him and have all my emails sync'd just as often, including corporate push mail). I've said it before, it's all dependent on the user and how the people use their phones.

If I use MAXIMUM BATTERY SAVINGS mode,I can make it all day @ work w/o a charge on the standard battery.

However, if you must have syncing on @ all times & re-charging isn't an option, I'd suggest one &/or both of the following:

1) Get an extended battery. I use the TREXCELL 3500 mAh battery,& it has been one of the best finds among my gadget purchases.
It lasts all day long w/moderate use, w/power to spare.

2) Get an app such as TASKER or ELIXIR to further customize your phone to maximize battery life.

My one wish/envy for this phone is that it had SMART ACTIONS baked in the O/S,as the DROID RAZR/MAXX has.

I use Performance mode w/ medium-normal use from 8am to 8pm and make it through that timeframe with 30% left, majority of the time. If I'm emailing and texting more often than normal throughout the day, then it makes it to 15% left. Usually, when I hit the 20% marker, I'll switch to maximum battery saver MODE.
