And, despite a bizarre snag, I got myself rooted!
(I'd had the BusyBox and SuperSU zips on my extSD card right alongside the stock JB zip and the MiRaGe zip, but they weren't showing up in the CWMT recovery list.* I ended up re-downloading them to my internal Downloads folder, and I was then able to flash them.)

[*EDIT: And that was possibly another derp on my part. Perhaps I'm just not used to the touch recovery yet. It's possible they were in fact there, and I just had to scroll down.]
