maybe if theyd stop giving away their money they wouldnt be poor..... and I could stop supporting them

You've hit the nail on the head, as usual, copestag. They need to learn to save their own money, live within their means, and most importantly, get a job.

how do we know you are both wrong?

because youve spent countless posts telling us how the poor have NO discretionary income....... how could they possibly be giving any of it to anyone

D'you know, that came so close to being good .. if only it hadn't completely missed the point.

Had you actually read my post, you would have seen it said that "lower-income people" gave more, not the poor :)

You've hit the nail on the head, as usual, copestag.

Actually, more like missed the nail, hit his thumb, ran round screaming like a girl for 5 minutes ;)

They need to learn to save their own money, live within their means, and most importantly, get a job

And it seems he's not the only one with a sore thumb: my post refers to "discretionary income", i.e. income from a JOB that remains AFTER they've paid for necessities, i.e. it's within their means.

I like to think that I have a pretty thick skin and all, but that there offends me to the core.

These peoples goal in life is to be as offensive as possible like their hero Rush. Don't let them know when they've succeeded. It gets them sexually excited. (and you don't want that):p

Ironic coming from those who suggests welfare should be usurped in favour of people looking after their 'own'.

The socioeconomics of your argument and disgusting, frankly.

Okay, I am calling bullshit here. How can the so called poor give more than the “rich?” I doubt that is mathematically possible.

Err .. I think you mis-understand the concept of "bullshit".

Baseless opinion that contradicts hard evidence is "bullshit".

I quoted actual research. So .. the polar opposite of "bullshit".

Not quite. I find copestag’s posts to be spot on, and extremely accurate

Again: uninformed opinion v valided research.

You may think that. I have demonstrated, with evidence, that they're wrong.

Your posts on the other hand…trying to tell us Americans how to run our country! HILARIOUS!

We like to take an interest in our former colonies. Kinda like a parent after the kids leave home :)

Right…I work at McDonalds, have the latest iPhone, and drive an Escalade. How is that within my means?

Err .. it's not.

It's also nothing to do with the research I quoted.

Look at the bit of my post that you actually quoted: "discretionary income". That specifically defines that it's from within their means.

What’s wrong with wanting people to look after themselves?

Nothing.

Totally irrelevant to what was being discussed, though.

Ah it's a shame when kids are lost by rebellion, rather than protracted negotiation and reduced interference. Just like colonies eh? :p

Well, perhaps if you treated them with the respect they deserved, you wouldn't have rebellion on your hands. Just saying.

Looks pretty er...bare here.

I'll update my own impressions on the topic by saying that, after giving him some tome, my impression of the new Pope is pretty good. He's not my Pope; I'm not a catholic. So I'm not terribly bothered by his positions on many of the things that practicing Catholics are very worked up about. As a high profile role model, I think he's better than many on the world stage. That's enough for me.

He seems to like being among the people. Probably giving his security staff heart attacks.

Baseless opinion that contradicts hard evidence is "bullshit".
Except you have yet to tell how the so-called poor pays more in taxes than the so-called rich.
Again: uninformed opinion v valided research.

More like common sense.

How did that work out for you in 1812?
Well, perhaps if you treated them with the respect they deserved, you wouldn't have rebellion on your hands. Just saying.
Pretty much.
We blame that dodgy neighbour ..
That
