Root New root question 3/3/11

There's a new ROM on the latest DIncs that rooting doesn't work on yet. I have a client who just bought one and I tried rooting it over and over (have rooted MANY DIncs) but the unrEVOked program stated that the ROM is too new dfor software.

Please don't take any offense, just covering all the bases here...

Are you sure that you're using the latest unrEVOked? It's 3.2 I believe. You could also check the wiki page at unrEVOked. There are sometimes solid beta versions there that work fine. I had to use one for my son's EVO.
I got mine about 2 months ago, so while it's possible they have patched a hole, I haven't heard about it.

This is off topic but to answer your question there are two types of Incredibles, AMLOED and SLCD. they require different rooting methods. I have the AMOLED and it's up to date with OTA's and I rooted it. I had Supersuser but no root apps would work. I downloaded Titanium back up and when I ran it it told me how to fix root. Once fixed I had root with no problem. "End of Off Topic".

Now where the hell is the announcement for the release of the Thunderbolt???

I just got an SLCD Inc that shipped with 2.2

I had the same problem. I followed everything to a T. I tried multiple times with nothing but fail and was ready to start a thread for help. It finally worked after about 12hours of trying. The unrevoked wiki basically says to uninstalled any apps that may communicate with your pc. I uninstalled any that I thought might communicate with my pc- still nothing. Eventually I decided to try with all user apps uninstalled. removing user apps=succes! It really sucks because without root there is no way (that I know of) to backup the apps you have, other than writing a list so you can re-download them, although you still lose your app data.

Here is a list of what I uninstalled in case we have apps in common so you can start with them:
all Handcent sms font packs
Gas buddy
Google voice
USAA
PNC Mobile
Angry Birds
BlowUp Lite
PhotoVault
Chrome to phone
Weatherbug
Astro File manager
Google Shopper
Barcode Scanner
Pandora

Good Luck to you!:)
