Root New S2E for CM7

Call me an old Fuddy Duddy (I don't know what that is, but I have always wanted to use that word ONCE), but I am still using Hroark13 CM7 on the Prevail. I tried and loved all the sd-ext kernels and options before returning to S2E after an improved update came out months ago. I love it and have had no problems. I still have a 1GB sd-ext on a 32GB SD Card.

In October an even newer version of S2E was released for CM7. I have tried various things but I cannot get it to work. Almost all the options are grayed out. Normally I could swap each option back and forth after a reboot.

I suppose I could start from scratch and reinstall CM7 but I have been there done that back in the past and don't want to spend the time if I don't have to. I am happy with the phone now and not sure of the benefits of the new version.

Anyone else using the newest S2E? Any suggestions?

Thank God for Hroark13's port of CWM! Lol. My phone is back like it was but just curious about the newest S2E.

Thanks in advance for any Help!

I had this same problem until I reformatted the card (got it set up on my brothers phone that way... I'm still running the katokernel that mounts the sdext as /data)

Thanks Lord. I did reformat the sd-ext but not the whole card.

I might give that a try when I have time.

I had the same problem a few times with the old version. To fix it I would download and install S2E. I would then open the app and go into settings and check the appropriate boxes. I would then reboot into CWM and format my sd card, reboot, then go back into S2E and finish setting it up, then reboot again. The trick was installing the app and THEN formatting the card. Hope this'll help ya.

Ahh. I will try that. I always formatted first and then installed the app.

Thanks Wetbiker7!

Boy I feel even more Stupid than usual. I stumbled upon the solution to my problem and like Occams Razor, it was simple and easy to fix and actually so logical that I should have thought of it. But I didn't, I serendipitously stumbled upon it.

The big thing that was bugging me was the fact that some options such as Dalvik Cache were dimmed out even though it was checked.

It was disabled because there was not enough space on the Data Partition to contain it anymore. S2E is smart enough to diagnose this. I was not even though it was staring me in the face.

I used to run an app called History Eraser Pro that cleans up your Data Partition to maximize free space. I have not used it many months and had approx 50MB taken up by cache trash. The phone was running fine so I didn't notice.

So, this morning for giggles, I ran the utility and my free space doubled to 100MB.

Something clicked in the few remaining neurons that I have left. I immediately checked my old S2E and all the options were available to be switched back and forth.

I upgraded to the new S2E and it runs fine.

Boy, do I feel stupid. Lol

The new S2E coupled with the new ADW EX seem to be running great! Even my Boost signal has improved recently after some spotty service a while back.

I would like to try TWRP...

Yeah man. That ADW EX is super. I'm using it with AOKP. There's a ton of stuff I can do now that I can use the CM9/AOKP themes. Freakin sweet! :D

They said to not use it but I have kept it going and works great. The only problem I had is when I installed it I lost 10mb memory and have no idea where it went, but oh well!
