New sandwich ideas!

You could always do a variation of the French dip, which is simply rare roast beef on French bread, but I like a little horseradish on that. Very yummy.
Holly mother! This is THE best sandwich I've ever had. Popped into this up market pub in the summer and it had huge steak chunks of rare roast beef, horseradish in a freshly made loaf!! Mouth is watering at the thought!! Quickly followed by some Aspell cider on draft...

Not exactly lunchbox friendly tho. :D

My wife is queen of containers ... she'd have each element packed individually and do the assembly right before eating. Of course that depends on your location for lunch. If you have to eat while welding high steel, it's probably not practical. ;)

Where does one get leftover meatloaf. Mine never makes the fridge. :p

Have you considered a meat salad sandwich? Coarse chunked meat or poultry, diced boiled egg, diced dill or sweet pickle, diced celery and mayo, and bread of choice. Variations... jalapenos and or bell peppers... black olives.. spices....
Anytime we have leftover chicken my wife uses the meat grinder attachment on our blender to make chicken salad. Sometimes I cook chicken just for that purpose. It's easy, health, and cheap.

The same here. I'll purposely cook chicken just for making salad sandwiches. The variations are endless and always tasty. I like mine chunky style so I shy away from the processor.

Years ago I was head of the booster club for the high school wrestling club. Naturally that made me the guy in charge of making and taking snacks and lunches for the wrestlers when they had meets out of town. :) Chicken salad was one of if not the very favorite of the boys. Healthy, easy to prep, and reasonably priced per sandwich.

You know that early man did not have the time to sit down to three squares a day. :) He ate hearty when he could.
Yet they survived without engineered foods and medicines. Hmmm

But to be fair, average lifespans were probably significantly down in those days, compared with today's standards.

On occasion I've use chicken salad or grilled chicken cut into strips wrapped in romain lettuce to cut out the carbs. Toss in some craisens for a little tartness as well.

True enough. I doubt they suffered from diabetes and such however.

That right there sounds very good!

My entire childhood would see my father off to work with a bacon and cheese sandwich neatly packed with his thermos of unprocessed milk. Eating healthy wasn't a priority for the man. :)

If you're going for "what I at as a child" sandwiches ... we used to love spaghetti sandwiches.
This is gross, sloppy sandwiches. :p When i was a kid I would have malt vinegar and tomato ketchup sandwiches!

Cold Leftover Meatloaf sammich......Yummy.
I have only had meatloaf once and was not a huge fan. Would try again tho..

Sounds quite nice @olbriar might drop the white of the egg tho, just don't like the bland wet texture.:p

The white isn't that bad on a sandwich but I'm in your camp... white of the egg is not good. I made out like a bandit on Easter as a child. I'd eat every kid's yolks and trade them my whites. :)

Have you noted the exclusion of a spam sandwich from the mod team? :)
You might want to try canned kippers or sardines with crackers. It will insure some privacy while eating your lunch. :)

I like all these ingredients. A toasted spam sandwich is rather nice. Sadly I would not enjoy privacy even with the smelliest of lunches as my office is far too busy. Mind you I've never had sardines on crackers, always toast for me. Mmm.. :D

Sardines are good but kippers are my favorite. I've never tried them on toast so there ya go. Out of the can with a toothpick and onto a cracker for me. Was a go to lunch for me forty + years ago when I ate lunch. Another lunch was vienna sausages and crackers. I broke down and bought a can a decade or so ago... they weren't the sausages of old.
So many like products barely resemble the former product. Home made peppered beef jerky was another option for me. Now I'm hungry for kippers, sausages, and jerky. :)

Google searching for your suggestion I found this

"The World's First Pure, 100% Premium Mao Shan Wang Durians, In bite size pastries. "

That scared me. :) What exactly is a durian sandwich Mike?

Smelly I think.

Rollmop herrings - scrape the meat off the skin, on dark rye with some salad leaves and sliced red onion.

Or when I'm not feeling healthy - peanut butter and strong Cheddar on soft white bloomer.

Been some great post here, thanks for the ideas. I had to go with the roast beef and horse radish sandwiches as they are my fave from all the ideas.

Sadly not pratical on a day to day basis.

So I've dumped the processed ham sandwiches and gone for a trial run of Tuna and salad cream with sweet corn and diced peppers.
