Root new sd card locking up/wont start DX

I just put a formatted (on pc) sd card in my DX and its wont get past the M logo on boot. Once I put the original sd card, it works just fine. I unrooted back to stock and tried it from a factory resetted phone and it just won't take this card. But when I put it into my pc, its recognized just fine so I know its good. Any ideas on why a new card is not allowing it to boot up?

added: oh and if I remove the new sd card, it boots fine.

take battery and card out. Start phone up. put the broken sd in there, format using phone. power off. put battery back in. start up.

Everytime I put the card in, its goes black and nothing responds. I have to battery pull and reboot to get it back up.
