New Skytex skypad 7in

Your not the only one that feel that way. Products like.....APPLE!!!! Over prices product, that seems to stay behind the curve for sake of the NON-techies......Yes they are making their money. But what is crazy the people that buy and think they got the best!!!OMGLMBO

The iPad is not the most expensive tablet on the market.

Their resale value is high.

Their build quality is second to none.

They have millions of happy customers and not every user is a dummy or a fool.

There are far more iPad apps than Android Tablet apps.

Nobody forces you to buy an Apple iPad so this argument that an iPad is more costly is a bit silly. A Leicaflex is more costly than a cheap camera but Leica's quality is demonstrative. You get what you pay for.

Break your iPad and in most cases, you can pretty much get a no questions asked replacement. Is this the case with Android tablets?

When you jailbreak, there is very little you cannot customize.

We have a large number of "markets" offering vastly more themes, tweaks, mods, applications, and just about anything else you can ask for.

Native iPad applications are some of the most visually stunning applications available for a tablet and there are more applications it seems.

We do not have Flash, but soon, those of you with Flash on your Android products will stop seeing updates; Adobe has called mobile Flash development quits. Apple had it right from the get go.

Android tablets are maturing and I do expect some truly great Android tablets in the future, but these cheaper alternatives exist in a vast market of Android tablets and many are quite terrible. With Apple, you get one device at a time, every few years, and only Apple can use iOS, so there is some stability.

Sure Apple is expensive but quality is expensive.

I bought the SKYPAD Alpha on groupon for 129. Its great for the price but lacks in a lot of ways. Thing I have noticed are: No Adobe Flash Player so you can't watch most video's. It also has trouble sometimes with clicking on scroll down menus on website. For example, on ESPN.com you can't click on a scroll down menu to change the display from AFC to NFC. It has many small issues like that which are frustrating but you get what you pay for. I recommend a better higher priced tablet if you have to money but if you don't have much money then this one is great for surfing the internet and there are plenty of apps in the Getjar app store to keep you busy.

I have the Skypad Alpha have had it for about a month and this morning I was using it and truned it off and when I went to go turn it on nothing. I tried pluging it in nothing, I hope you can help me I left a message on the companies voice mail to call me back on Monday the 23rd of Jan 2012

I got mine last week and have been customizing it like crazy. SKYTEX you guys were incredibly smart with thinking ahead for the enthusiasts community and having the touchpad come rooted. Bravo!

I will be buying another one of these soon.

Only had one problem so far with the device hanging twice on boot but a firmware flash of the updated image solved the problem. The firmwar upgrade process is fairly easy. I do suggest that Skytex revises the directions for clarity though.

Word of advice.
Install Titanium backup after you get fairly deep into customization. It is a life saver to restore your settings apps and data quickly after having to clear and reflash.

When are we getting a SWYPE app for this device?

Check out my quote from another post:

We have a new support forum for Skytex products, particularly the Alpha 2 forward.

It is at Skypad Tablet Zone . We already have a huge WiFi performance tweak. A couple of mods with tweaks, overclocking, and visualizations that have windows installers that come with the windows Android drivers. I am working on wireless versions so you can use ADB over WiFi or ADBWireless , no ADB drivers necessary.

There is a ICS MOD coming. We have had a few people signing up from Sd and a lot of new users.

I have a flashable version of the mod in a full image that you can use the Livesuit tool from Skytex to flash as well.

Here is a tip for everybody using the Alpha 2 Livesuit to flash. Open livesuit first then plug in the tablet and install the drivers following Skytex directions. After it installs nothing should happen. Unplug the tablet then plug it back in and the flash should run after a couple of questions. Once you have the drivers installed all you will need to do from then on is open Livesuit and connect using the pin/usb and it will run.

I cannot wait to have nothing but great things to say about this tablet...However, I am one of those people that received a defective tab. I got this deal through Google Offers, and I was pretty daggone excited to get a rooted, 2.3 up to the ICS Beta, FFC, awesome lil tab and when I ripped the box open like a kid on Christmas, this is what I saw.

I will have to wait 10-15 from now to get it back in the mail. I do like how they pay the shipping to send it back, but really?

So, once I get a homescreen, I will start dev'ing on this beast....but for the next week or so, I'll keep checking here to see the progress...

Give me some ideas on what you guys would like to see on this tab...
