New speaker not charging fully

My friend's new speaker was plugged in all night but it showed only 1 of 5 dots, and that was blinking. Now it's up to 3, with 1 of those blinking. What gives? Does the light switch have to be "on" for it to work? It's a JBL Flip 4.

Maybe this seems like a stupid answer, but I do mean to be helpful. Has your friend tried a different charger?

What light switch are you talking about?

i have a jbl charge and it charges just fine.....so there is something that does not sound right. are you using the oem cable and charger? maybe you might need to return it for a replacement.

The JBL Flip 4 apparently has a 3,000mAh battery in it, which is a similar capacity to many phones. So it should fully charge in just a few hours with a generic good quality USB charger.

Have you tried another charger, in-case the one you're using isn't up to it?

It finally charged all the way. The light switch I mean is the one that probably controls that circuit. The charger is oem and is plugged into a double usb charger that in turn is plugged into a regular wall outlet, no computer involved.
