New sprint Hero

Things never go easy for me. Now I'm failing to root.

so is usb debugger on ...if not turn it on if it is turn it off then turn it back on also rebooting your computer helps too
 
Ok now I can't even get the sendkeys to work again. This is really frustrating..

USB debugger is on, i've disabled/renabled it multipe times and rebooted multiple times
 
Ok I got farther on my laptop. It ran smooth but i see an error opening /sdcard/recovey-ra-heroc-v1.2.3.img no such file or directory

now I see an exclamation point and I'm pretty sure it didn't work

any ideas?
 
I see that recovery image actually now that I rebooted and remounted the SD card. Am I rooted now?

You are not going to get much of a response to questions that have already been answered. This isn't a technical support forum. You have not read enough. You just got the phone, didn't even know it came with an SD card and are crying to rooting help without reading xda. The only sympathetic ear on here is normally 702 and it looks like he went home for the day.

I had similar problems when rooting. So I read, and I read and I searched, and I googled, and I figured it out, you will to. If I remembered exactly what I did I would tell you, but I don't remember.

Wow thanks for the wonderful insight. I'm supposed to learn my phone? What does learning how to add applications, edit widgets, etc have to do with rooting my phone? How is asking a question that I have searched for and not found an answer or solution for such a big deal?

Btw i'm so proud of you that you had similiar problems and you're not sharing them here. Guess these forums so far aren't what I'd expected.

What APP, a ROM is not an APP it replaces the software on the phone.

You are just proving that you have not bothered researching what it is you are doing. Everyone that recommends it has read all they needed to read to put it on their phone.

apperently you didnt read enought and yes the kitchen does have several forums that have lots of help answers but to help you out one more time unless you keep up witht he attitude you need to download a termianl emulator and check and see if the root proccess took on your phone if it did then like i said it failed to flash the recovery img....if thats the case then just rerun the auto rooter or do a search and find out how to flash the img i dont have the time right nwo to walk you through it

Wow you're trash talking is not working. I was talking about APPS which is why I said APPS. I know what a ROM is which is why I didn't say ROMS.

Just don't worry about it I see that everyone seems to too high and mighty to help anyone out here.
 
Try rebooting you computer. Then rooting again. Sometimes drivers don't work correctly untill a reboot. You can also try reistalling the HTC Sync but first download the latest Sprint HTC Sync from the HTC website. If i remember correctly the drivers that came with HTC Sync on the sd card are not the latest version.

Thanks for the advice, I already downloaded the latest HTC sync from HTC's site.
 
When you connect your Hero to your computer you are not clicking mount on the notification bar on the Hero, right? If you are, that may be your problem....
 
Have you tried re-running auto-root, that's what I had to do. Then turn your phone off and hold down home and press the power button. You should get a black screen with green writing.
 
Yeah that doesn't work, it goes to the screen where I can boot normal, apply some zip or factory reset.

I get through the whole pre-kitchen but fail out when it tries to flash the RA
