Root New super easy root method w/ NAND unlock

after you do this, now what? I followed the steps and it worked nicely, but my phone doesn't have a root/sudo app in my apps list???

so if I completed this simple 3 step guide successfully I should have the super user app? I did everything correctly to the best of my understanding and the phone has a different oem rom on it(the sprint logo does't appear on boot) any pointers?

I haven't tried that method but I know if you flash a rom like fresh the super user app will be there

thanks, I will give this a shot when I do some more rading. New android user here and I want to learn a bit more before I dig into rooting.

I saw this but decided to use TheBiles guide to root by Evo so that I could learn something. I'm actually really glad that I did. Moving forward I'll feel comfortable using flashboot, adb, flashing roms, booting into recovery, etc. It took longer but if you want to understand what you're doing to your phone it's worth it.

I totally agree. I am a complete noob to android and I just rooted my phone yesterday with TheBiles method and I learned tons and A LOT more comfortable and confident I won't brick my phone.

I am trying this easy 3 step method but once it gets to where it is suppose to look for the file pushed to my sdcard it just sits at that screen and does nothing never prompts me to load file or anything. Has anyone else had this happen? what can i do from here to move forward. It is at the white screen and i have fastboot highlighted. Any help greatly appreciated. Finally tried to root and stuck but i can just power it off if i hit the power button again it goes back a screen with option to power off and that works. Windows 7 32bit.

Had to remove my 32gb micro sd card and put the 8gb back in and everything ran great. Now what rom will i put on here, when will froyo 2.2 coming out. Is the WiMax what i am suppose to use now for tethering with this root? t/u

dang it, I want to do this but XDA seems to be down or something. I can't load it up. It just keeps trying to load.

And, if I have software number .6, do I need to downgrade to .1?

Can you guys report on how things go for you? I would like to root as well if this goes well and doesn't break anything

so many posts to read through, can I use this method if I rooted using the idiot proof guide already and achieved the "part 1 root"?

Ok i am trying to beleave i am rooted and trying to set my wifi for tethering, but it keeps dropping the wifi and i have to keep resetting it. Is that a known issue or is there something i need to do to set it up properly? I did see a recovery screen option or something when the 3rd step finished. Or is this the real sign that i am not rooted? t/u

Yes i think i have it working. I got wireless tether to work. Now i will have to read up on it and see how many people can connect at one time. So i guess that means i am truely rooted so the weekend turned out just great. I am New to Androids coming from Palms and windows mobil.

Ok I did this root and followed the guide, the root was easy to do. The hard part was installing the adp drivers. When I finished I was left with a somewhat OEM ROM that seems to be like a pre-release version because it's glitchy with the volume controls, the main weather app doesn't update properly, the phone is laggy starting calls, and the music widget in the lock screen tends to freeze a bit when you use it. I have no "sudo" app in my apps list.

Am I missing something? because I want to enhance my phones performance, not reduce it. I appreciate all the work the devs are putting in to these roots but there should be work put into helping noobs like me.
