Root new to android modding

ok new to android and just getting the feel of things. i flashed the cwm7 from the rom manager and im having a few problems... the dial pad is to big to dial out any numbers i dont have the app store anymore, and market isnt working. i tried to add accounts but when i hit "add account" my phone freezes and reboots... any suggestions would be great thank you for all the work and info you provide

you need to flash gapps and if you want @ metro back download this metroappstore.apk and put it on your sdcard and install it. :)
 
ok i got manage accounts to fucntion without a reboot but now its not giving me the option to sign on to gmail. plus when i try to restore the gmail app the installer fails and says application not installed i love the cm7 rom just trying to work out all my personal bugs :)

Here's a checklist to go through to help you fins your problem.

1. Did you download the rom via strong wifi?

2. Did you also download the gapps from rommanager and flash those as well?

3. If yes to both have you tried downloading them both again over a known good wifi connection and reflashing.

4. Have you tried manually flashing via cwm?
 
i tried to flash the rom again and its not booting into recovery it flashes the huawei screen the goes dark then flashes the same screen then continues to boot as usual.

if vol up, send, power doesn't work then try to reboot into recovery from within cm7.. If that doesn't work try re flashing cwm..

Edit: i think there is even an option to boot into cwm from ROM manager
 
Try reflashing the recovery image. If you are doing it in rm press the button a few times to make sure it flashes
 
can i reflash it from my computer? i downloaded clockworkmod again this time from my pc so i know it was a good download, the first time i flashed the mod it was over a reg data connection

Yeah you can. Go to the main ascend part of the forum and go to the sticky at the top called Handy Ascend Download Links and under clockwork recovery section you'll see a link for doing it from your computer via fastboot or there's a link for a post I made for another way to do it on your phone without ROM manager. I would download and flash cwr 3.0.2.8 it will back up your sd ext if you have partitioned your sd card for dts a2sd.

ok just got done installing clockworkmod recovery then i reinstalled cm7.1 on to gapps and hopefully i have fixed all my bugs thank you everyone for your help ill update ya soon on how it went. whats this 3g garbage i hear that is supposed to be on our ascend ive seen it once but i would to run full time like the boys in jax whats the scoop?
 
awesome thank you all for helping me i did a full sys format then reflashed the cm7 rom and gapps and BAM!!! everything is working great how do i change the size of the dialer though i can only see 4 5 some of 6, 7 8 some of 9 but i cant see 1,2,3 any suggestions?
 
anyone else having problems with orientation? the orientation, accellerometer, and mag field sensors are not working or even registering events. what can i do to get these back, fixed, updated?
 
ive been reading up on the prl and 3g i had 3g for a split second in jacksonville once or twice but nothing functional then i get on here and see im not the only one with this problem so i look a little deeper and see that the prl is directly related to your signal. (yeah duh i guess huh) everyone is saying that 3022 is better but i havnt seen anyone talk about 3026... is this normal and should i do anything to change this im now in the tallahassee area m835 running cm7.2 (nice job btw playfulgod)

It could possibly be because you have the M835. I know theres a few issues with people running Ascend roms on the 835. http://androidforums.com/m835-all-things-root/ ;)


Im on 3026 on my Esteem right now. Works just as good as when I was on 3019. Also you can now just call *228 and select option 5 to update your preferred roaming list and it will give you 3026
