Refresh button in browser. Hit the menu button at the bottom of the phone. It brings up all kinds of great features within the browser and in apps. Much better than having one button to do everything.
On many Android browsers, once the Menu is tapped, the address bar will appear at the top, with a refresh widget on the far right. While a page is loading, that turns into a circled-X used to stop it.
Isn't that the way it is on the Captivate browser?
If the browser and youtube are slow and laggy, not having 3g would be a prime suspect.
I am curious if Zack08's had other phones with the same carrier where he's having this problem.
A Captivate having reception issues where an iPhone 4 does not frankly surprises me.
As for your complaints on lag. You do know this phone actually multi-tasks. Not that fake multi-tasking that the iphone does but honest to god multi-tasking. You can literally run every app you have at once if you don't exit out of them.
I'm unclear. I've read that some other users may be having lag issues.
Surely, the answer can't simply be to live with it because Android is superior.
Android multi-tasking includes forcing apps to sleep when not in immediate use.
But essential services do not sleep in Android. These can get tangled and cause no end of user frustration, such as these two examples:
I know of one user who traced his lag issue to a bad media player app. He dropped that one, installed another, and his problem was solved. (Nothing wrong with the first app, others were happy with it, but in his case it just conflicted somehow with his other apps.)
I know of other users whose phones would be stuck in RAPID 3G on/off loop due to some reception issues, and this would cause the battery to drain quickly and also hurt the phone's response time. Android can run lots of apps because it's smart, but your Captivate will do that because it's a phone and that the phone-radio services must come first.
When someone invents the perfect phone, I'm sure we'll all buy one.
In the meantime, I've found Android is the superior choice for me, and believe that anyone taking time to set it up properly will enjoy it the most.
However, it's not the superior choice for every person, and in that case, perhaps the iPhone is a good alternative.
Hope this helps!
