Hello everyone,

I found this forum on my quest to figure out how "this rooting / custom rom stuff" works.

For the moment it seems that there are no guides for rooting the Samsung Galaxy Young Duos (s6312), are there any more generic guides that will work or will I simply have to wait until a bright mind works it all out?

Well, if the one-touch root apps won't work for you, then I'm not sure there is a lot of possibility. The Galaxy Young forum here is almost empty... we just don't have a lot of Galaxy Young users here. You're welcome to start a conversation, though:

Welcome, Pyrolit. In addition to what The Chief mentions, you have the option described here :):

Flash Android 4.1.2 XXAMB2 To Galaxy Young Duos S6312 which is for your device specifically.
 
Thank you all for the warm welcome and for your suggestions, I have been looking into the link you have provided Frisco but am not entirely sure if this is what I want.

Will this get me root permissions? I might not be fully understanding it but this seems to only update the android version of the phone.

I would like to be able to run and use DirectoryBind (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1410262) because the phone uses some sort of fake virtual SD card which is actually on the very limited internal storage, instead of using the true SD card (for games etc).

If this is going into too much detail for my introduction topic please let me know and I'll start a topic in a more appropriate section of the board.
