If use of the GPS function is a critical need, think twice about the current Captivate as improvements are in the maybe / maybe not category. If you have nothing else to do this weekend (this year?), read the sticky titled: All Things GPS.
Other than that, there are a zillion recommendations from accessories to apps to settings to whatever. If you want to post a question with greater specificity, your replies will likely be better targeted.
