Root New to DX....Terrible lag upon wake up.

Just got my DX this past week and I'm experiencing horrible lag every time I wake up the device. It is taking anywhere between 15 and 30 seconds after waking up to acknowledge any gestures at all and usually a full minute before the device finally starts working as it should. After the minute it works flawlessly and quick, but it's useless right after waking up. Any suggestions? I am rooted, but not OC'd and stock ROM. This is ruining what would be an awesome phone. Thanks guys.

Since you are rooted no reason not to install a nice ROM. Apex, GummyJar, or Apex. Can only help performance and fun factor.

^ agreed, not to mention the fact you will have to factory reset anyways which should get rid of that issue if it is indeed a software problem.

Back up everything with titanium backup and, create a nandroid backup then get flashing!

Liberty even managed to get rid of ALL lockscreen lag I had.

It's most likely an app that's running and for some reason, freezing it up..?

Perhaps you can try getting Advanced Task Killer just to "kill" everything and see if it still does it. Just something I would do... let us know if it fixes, then you can figure out what's causing it.

Try taking the sd card out and see if the lag goes away. Your card might have a corrupted file/filesystem on it.

Well I've flashed apex a couple of different times now with the same results. It works fine for about a day and then starts freezing up again on wake up. It's not nearly as bad this time. It recovers now in about 10 seconds, but still annoying. Even flashing back to stock froyo I experience lag. Thinking of apps, the only one I can think that might have something to do with wake up would be the beautiful widgets weather widget. Now that I think of it the problem started around the time I installed it. Anyone else had a problem with it?

Not necessarily. Lower the threshold alerts for watchdog and then see what apps, if any, are triggering them on wake up. I recall having this problem a while back and was able to realize that it was as a result of the stock Droid X music player having been renamed to .bak from .apk (hmm, I wonder who did that?! ;-) ). Consequently, it's important to ensure that as he is rooted, that he hasn't removed an APK that is necessary for the phone when it wakes up.

If you have weather animations turned on after wake it will cause a nice bit of lag, I would have to touch my screen a couple times to wake it up and it took a few seconds, turned that off and it went away.

Open Beautiful Widgets then weather widget settings - advanced and make sure unlock animations is turned off to see if that helps.

i have the same problem from time to time. i have been on every rom that has been put out. im on liberty now and its worse then ever. ( not bashing liberty ) that might not be the problem
