Root New To Evo 4g and Rooting

Well i just got my evo4g and ive been reading up on rooting. I got a few questions:

1.Which rooting program/way should i use...simpleroot or unrevoked? Ive never done this before, closest thing was jailbreaking.

2.What ROM do i use?

I would go ahead and use simple root as unrevoked isn't a complete root with nand unlocked.

There are a few good ROMs available. I personally use Fresh and love it. I would check out the XDA developers forum.

It would be great if someone could list the pros and cons of rooting and the pros and cons of the different ROMs. For instance, do any/all of the currrent ones disable the camera?

Besides wifi tethering what are the other benefits for a casual user?
