So I bought a Samsung Galaxy SII LTE from Rogers a while back, rooted it when it was running android 2.3.5 using some software called Unlock Root that did all the work for me.
New update came around in Kies to 4.0.4 but it didn't seem to work so I did a factory reset and updated to ICS 4.0.4 then. Unfortunately for me Unlock Root didn't work with ICS so I have to figure out how to tinker with it myself.
I've been following this guide:

but I've already gotten stuck.
First of all, it says I need an SD card to install Superuser but I don't have one. Can I not install Superuser later, grabbing it from the market?
Also it says that I need to boot into download mode but I've followed the instructions perfectly and cannot get to any other screen than a "battery charging" screen.
TL;DR: is there a concise, up-to-date guide to rooting my phone (SGH-I727R) running the official newest version of ICS (4.0.4) or possibly a "click here to root!" app on PC or something? What am I doing wrong?

Problem solved, needed an sd card to boot into download mode.
