just did the one click root, does that allow you to remove factory applications? example the sprint hot spot app icon......not paying $25 a month for it now that its free, can i delete that off my phone to free up space?

Yes you can delete it but be careful on what you delete. I would suggest putting a custom rom on your phone, most of them have the sprint bloatware removed already for you.

how do you delete unwanted apps? i just rooted the phone today and have been searching forever on how to do this. i'd rather stay away from roms if i can, since i don't know anything about them and don't wanna do anything wrong.

Titanium Backup will become your best friend as it'll allow you to delete apps including sprint bloat ware from the stock system. be careful what you delete. link above details what you can delete and what you shouldn't.

There is also the sdx app removal tool over on the sdx website. You can backup the apps then reinstall them if needed. I used that when i first started out just to cover my a$$ until i found my feet doing this. now root explorer is my best friend

Sprint Hot Spot is just about the only thing you can't remove using apps like Titanium. Some roms do have the mod that removes it, so you have to check the roms to see which do. The only other way to get rid of it, is with a launcher like Launcher Pro. That will allow you to hide apps from your app drawer, but it won't uninstall it. It's not actually it's own app per se.
