Root New to rooting

Decided today was the day. I looked up all the instructions I needed to root my Galaxy Note SGH - i1717. The process went smoothing, everything was going fine, then I restarted my phone and it won't boot past the providers screen.
It can be put into download mode still and recovery
Is there anything I can do to finish the job, or get my stock phone back?
