Root New to rooting.

Guys I'm sorry if this has been asked before, but for a couple of months I've been debating on whether or not I should root my mytouch 3g.

Heres my details:
  • Mytouch 3G, came with 1.5
  • Updated to 1.6
  • T-Mobile
  • United States

Here are some of my questions:
  1. Will I be able to root this phone?
  2. What's the best rom for this phone?
  3. Do I have to downgrade to 1.5 or is staying at 1.6 fine?
  4. What are the chances of actually bricking this phone while rooting it?

Well! You can find the MT3G forum. lol

Okay:

1. Definitely.
2. Matter of opinion. Some people like SuperD or SuperE, some like CyanogenMod (Donut or Eclair). I'm in the latter camp. Some go with different roms altogether.
3. Rooting will require you to downgrade to 1.5, but as soon as that's done you can flash a 1.6 or 2.1 based rom.
4. From what I understand, pretty slim.
 
I do apologize as I thought this was the MT3G Forum, I figured it would go in the rooting section since I'm asking about rooting =/

Thank you for answering my questions though, I'm glad you answered (based on my browsing, you really know what you're talking about)

I have 3 more questions IF I may continue,

  1. Do you have a link with instructions on how to downgrade to 1.5?
  2. Are there any chances of bricking the phone while downgrading?
  3. Is there a website for these roms?
