New To Tablets - Android

Hello to All,

While I've been familiar with PC hardware for quite some time I am new to tablets and the Android OS. I obtained my Galaxy Tab primarily because I got a deal on it that compared favorably with higher end eReaders. I wanted the capability to read ebooks in a hand held fashion. Well, I have to say that once I received this unit and started to explore what is possible with it, I'm feeling some of the same excitement I felt back when first exposed to PCs.

In doing research before buying I saw that an upgraded OS is preferred but it appeared it would take many advanced operations that I would have to wrap my brain around to get done. And I saw a risk of turning my new device into a "brick" if I was not careful.

Well, in trying the "firmware update" function a few times I saw the OS version changing and ultimately I ended up with;

Firmware: 2.3.4
Kernel:2.6.35.7 - k.sridhar@sep-33#2
Build:Gingerbread.EF17

So it seems either I was mistaken about the difficulty in the first place or fortunate to have stumbled across an easy way to get the preferred OS version, or both.

No matter what I'm very happy to have made the decision to get into Tablet computing and the Android OS specifically.

I'm here to learn and share knowledge and I welcome any suggestions with regard to apps, hacks etc. I'm still in the process of settling on an email client, browser and some other things. Again, any comments or suggestions are always welcomed.

Ok, so there is a 30 pin adapter to add a USB port to the 10.1 sold by Samsung but does it work with a 7", the SPH-P100 specifically? I've been searching and nothing is apparent.

Thanks!
