Hello as you can tell I'm a noob. I recently purchased a Samsung Fascinate, I know I'm a little behind the techno. curve. I got an awesome deal from Verizon along with an upgrade, so it just worked out. I Have a few questions to ask if you all dont mind.
#1 Is there any way to get a call or message reminder? I see in the top left corner it appears theres LED's there. Is that in fact what they are? How do I get them to function and is there a way to get a tone also?
#2 Is there away to delete the apps that came with the phone,(i.e. Blockbuster, Amazon)
#3 How does the data transfer work do I have to go thgrough Verizon or can I just plug the SD card into my computer?
#4 Can I download Apps directly to the SD card or do they have to be on the phone memory?
Other than that I absoulutly LOVE my Fascinate its a big step from the Moto. v750 I had. What an ancient piece of technology? (LOL) Thanks in advance I look forward to hearing the responses on my questions.

Welcome!
1. Those aren't leds, they are sensors. Unfortunately Samsung did not see fit to include a notification led. You can download "no led" from the market which flashes a notification on the screen when it's off. It is also possible to use the backlights of the buttons on the bottom for this purpose, but you must root the phone to do so (that's just the first step...you have to do more than that.)
2. It is possible to remove the apps, but once again, you must be rooted.
3. You mean how do you get data from your sd to your computer? You just use the included usb cable to connect to your computer. In the notification area, an option to mount the sd card to your computer will appear after plugging in. You'll have to install the samsung usb drivers on your computer.
4. Installing apps to the sd card isn't available on 2.1.

Noob myself here, so I can't wait to get some answers for some of the questions you have asked...
I may be able to help with question #1...I downloaded an app in the marketplace, EASY REMINDER, that will notify you of missed calls repeatedly at user set intervals or until dismissed. Will also notify you of text messages.

While I'm at it, let me bring up a question about Google....I understand that BING search bar is the best I'm going to get currently without rooting, but isn't there a way to get a bookmark to google's homepage as an icon on my phone so I can just click it and go straight to google to do my search. i would also like to add some other icons on the phone that would launch the browser and go straight to the site, much like an iphone does...any suggestions.

Best of luck.

First, make sure you have Google's page saved as a bookmark. Then long press homes screen > Shortcuts > Bookmark > Now choose the Google bookmark page. Hope that helps.
