New to themes

[RoRo1990]

Hey all so I want to try some themes out not sure where to get started also themes are made specifically for a phone type right? Also installing themes only changes the colors/borders nothing else right?

Depends what sort of them you are talking about? You can get launcher themes, sms themes etc or you can get rom themes.
Things like launcher themes and sms themes for market apps such as Go Launcher and Handcent are not specific to device so they will work on any android phone.
Rom themes aren't just device specific but also firmware so you need to get a theme that is right for your firmware as well or you could have problems. Rom themes work by changing the framework-res app and the SystemUI app.
