New unknown icon on notification bar...

This may be a dumb question, but I need help! I downloaded the new update yesterday and ever since there has been a new icon on my notification bar. It is just to left of the 3G icon. It's a cross inside a diamond shape, with three "waves" pointing to the right. I have no idea what this icon means. I've looked at the user manual and didn't see anything about it. Does anyone know what this is? I just want to make sure I don't have something running that shouldn't be...

Thanks!

I am also wondering WTF. Have you also noticed your bottom 4 keys stay lit which is good but now the phone is not recognized by the computer- can't connect or mount anymore.

The bottom lights on mine still go off after a certain amount of time. I haven't tried to connect it to my computer since I did the update. I hope it works. That sucks!

The new icon is the GPS symbol, As far as the USB goes there is a few posts in the trouble shooting section about it. VZW is aware of the problem and have told people that they are working on a patch but you all know how that goes. Re-install the drivers, thats what fixed it for me.

The symbol in the info bar is a new one that relates to the 911 location for the phone....
The phone should sync to a computer through usb...it just takes a bit until you get the option to "mount" the sd card.....
The 4 bottom buttons are now timed to the screen...

OK, I never installed any drivers before cause the phone mounted directly without them. Guess I'll pull out the CD and install and see what happens.

If your computer doesnt sync run the Samsung USB driver file. After you install the computer will recognize it as a CD drive and give you a few Verizon files, wait about 20seconds and then it will go away and let you sync. You should be able to see the phone files like before.

Ever since this new icon popped up into my navigation bar, my battery life will only last me 3/4 of the day. Didn't know if anyone else is having this same problem.

Some updates take the device and battery out of calibration, as far as how accurate the battery meter is.

It's a good idea, as a sort of last step in the update process, to run the device to the point that it will not display a screen, as dead as possible, then recharge fully without interruption. After several cycles of doing that, over several days, you'll get a much better idea as to your battery life with normal use.

the new icon is the E911 GPS icon. no big deal and you can't get rid of it. been implemented since DL09.

well with root you can "hide" it with themes...technically it could be removed as well, but none of us bothered to really deal with it as its a pita
