New Update Caused Endless Rebooting -Tried most Steps

Galaxy s8 on Verizon, a standard update notice kept appearing past few days, finally installed it. The minute it finished, it is now in an endless restarting loop.
The phone does unlock and show my homescreen. I can get into it, but I only get about 10 seconds to do stuff then it restarts.

Clear Partition Cache- Done
Safe Mode- Done (Boots up in safe mode for 10 seconds then restarts the same as non-safe mode)

Any ideas besides factory reset?

Issue Fixed. Big thanks to MrJavi and @James L . I would not have figured it out without them.

Mr Javi helped me with a lot of the early issues, there were a lot. I ended up getting my firmware from samfw.com, as sammobile is far too slow (6 hour download). Odin kept failing on the flashing, it ended up being that I need to install Kies 1 and kies 2.

The flash succeeded then, but the phone was now worse, it became bricked! So I flashed it a 2nd time, and it worked! Second time was the charm for some reason.

You should be aware that there are several different tyes of Odin's used for flash S8 Official factory firmwares.

Odin
modded ramsy odin
prince comsy odin
patched Odin

Okay, a lot of this is sadly too complicated for me. Does this flashing with odin thing erase my data?
I mainly want to backup some pictures and files first, so perhaps I try ADB? I saw it mentioned online, I have to look into that. I dont know if it applies to me.


-The first thread you linked is about someone using the wrong odin and it bricked their phone.

-The second thread is about a patched odin file, the OP posted 4 different attachments of a 3.13.1, so would it matter which one I download if I proceed to use Odin?
I read through it, including the recent posts on page 22, but I dont know what much of it means.

-For the samsung firmware, I just download the latest one here, or should I be using an OLDER version incase this is the issue causing my rebooting loop?

Yes won't be able to downgrade since your aboot (bootloader is a fused 7) . If you count back 5 digits from the end of your firmware you'll notice "7" . The lowrr firmwares youll notice "6". Bootloadets are upward compatible bud never downword compatible. If you would flash a lower aboot partition (firmware) youll get an Odin fail. On my divice it would show "sw rev check" fail. Therefore your safes bet is to go with the latest firmware.

Okay, interesting. So Ill stick with the latest firmware then.

But I presume I can just download ODIN straight from the website (3.13.1)? I dont need to use that patched version from the XDA thread?
 
....Also I can not access my phones home screen, it just keeps rebooting. So Hopefully ODin works just from the Android Recovery screen alone. (Holding power button and volume down button)

Yes you can, The reason I posted the others links was not to confuse you but to provide helpful information. Sometime a special Odin is necessary for a specific device. Personally, I use Odin 3.13.1 with no problems and have never used the others. Odin works for me. Good luck and please post back with results. I'm hoping this fixes you S8.

Each phone has different button combinations. For my device I hold power, home, volume up to get into recovery. If I want to Odin flash, I press power, home volume down. That puts my device in download mode screen which asks for confirmation by pressing volume up.
 
After you down load your official firmware recommend to use an Md5 checker to verify the validity of your download. Don't worry, it pretty easy to do. Just look for and app Md5 checker and from the site look for a 32 digit Md5 copy it and use the Md5 checker app to verify. If the combinations match your good to go.

But I am downloading the firmware directly from the Sammobile website, so there should not be an authenticity issue right?

Well Md5 checkers can be used for comparisons. For instance, If I choose to download the firmware from an XDA link . I could then go to Sam mobile and compare it with the XDA downliad to see if it indeed matches. If the download is not is good and the Md5's miss match then its been altered some how. Possibly malware.
Md5 can also verify if during the download process is complete. For instance, Im guessing somehow your OTA update was corrupted and that is what put in sofe bricked stare (blanket term).
If your official firmware bootloader partition is corrupt you'll have a hard bricked S8. Basically an expensive paper weight.
Sam mobile has a free and a paid. The free idownload is slow, slow, slow. The longer the time the more chance of error. Of course free is better. You don't have to use an Md5 but I would. Just felt you should be aware. Knowledge is power.

Oh okay, I see. I will download the 3.13.1 from two different sources and compare them with desktop version of Md5 first. MAke sure they have the matching 32 digits

Im not sure the Odins will provide Md5 or hash tags. I would only run the Md5 to check the Official firmware.

CSC: ( Consumer Software Customization) countries /carriers

PIT (Partition Information Table) Dangerous best left alone.

My official fermware comes as a single .tar file. I place it in the ap slot and flash.

Okay now I see the issue with Sammobile you mentioned. It does not work, the download is stuck at 6 hours. The problems just don't end!!!!

Ive been searching around, but only find old versions of the firmware. I believe the one I need is PDA G950USQU7DSL3 Version 9, December 22 2019

I downloaded SamFirm which auto finds the latest firmware and fastest download. turns out that software is "deprecated" what ever that means.

I then tried Frija, supposed to be better. But it is unable to auto find my firmware. I tried manual mode, but I dont know what I type in the "Phone" box on the far right.
It's obviously not just G950U......

A program element annotated @Deprecated is one that programmers are discouraged from using, typically because it is dangerous, or because a better alternative exists. Compilers warn when a deprecated program element is used or overridden in non-deprecated code.

The first time I hear of that on Sam mobile or any firmware. I know a feel apps and modules here and there were marked depicted. ????? ughhhhh!!! is right ughhhh!!! Dam??? When I get off work I'll do so checking, see what I can find.

Maybe it was that depricated firmware that the OTA updated that caser your soft brick to begin with. Just seems odd, the the site would even display it if its depicted. i get back to you.

Oh well its the SamFirm tool program itself that is Deprecated, not the Samsung firmware. The XDA thread says so below, I tried the UpDato.com, it only has October 2019 firmware for my phone.

Sorry, another update... Someone on XDA helped me with Frija so I got the latest firmware for it now.
I downloaded another copy of the firmware from SamFw.com, and checked them both in Md5, and they matched.

It's possible Frija downloaded it's copy from the same website, SamFW.com, but I wouldn't know. I'll just go ahead and use it in Odin.

I was told to leave the CSC section blank. Because Home CSC wipes your data.

You'r doing quite well. Some Samsung firmware is provided in 4 or 5 files each one is paced in AP, CP, Bl,or CSC if it comes with a 5th that would be the PIT file. The flashing the Partition Information Table (PIT) file is not necessarily. To my understand it will wipe your imie number. Having a Md5 match you can rest assured your firmware is valid. Breath easy knowing you have been successful. Its a bit confusing at first. I got say, impressed with your progress. You set your mind on it and you didn't give up.


imei= international modelphone equipment identifier.

PS= Sorry for tw bad g4mmer my dumb cat keeps rubbing up against my phone as Im typing.
