New update for evo shift

I did uncheck the fast reboot and it would still occur after returning to home from certain apps, market or browsing. It would be better after rebooting but still occur. It has been better ever since I cleared my sense cache which will cause you to have to reset up all your home screens...but it still occurred. At the Sprint store yesterday the manager told me that to correct it I would have to do a factory reset. Before I go through that pain can someone tell me if that works. Without root and Titanium Backup that would be painful.

Please advise.

I did the factory reset to try and fix it. It didn't help.

Thanks Dumuzi and Girlinblue. That confirms what I have pieced together from comments in these forums. I want to root my shift and flash a ROM, but apparently GB causes that to be really difficult to impossible. I am using LPP instead of sense. It runs pretty good, but I prefer sense...I just cannot stand the reload time issue.

I imagine what you would have to do is wipe, flash the rom, then flash the update over the rom... But it's just a guess. I haven't read the thread about it to be sure.

Hmmm I'm assuming I'd lose my root if I just go for the update huh? I'm cool without the update but how do I get rid of the notification??

Click on the notification and then hit cancel on the download part. Then go to settings - phone update - htc x and uncheck the box. Xda has the update thatt allows you to keep root. It has been fixed.

I flashed a new rom and the notification went away.

I might suggest that if you are rooted, try Mikshift v1.5. It has sense and 2.3, with some sense 3.0 features. My battery lasts more than 24 hours with it as well. Best rom I've tried so far. Just follow directions for the flash....

Is that the executive edition? If it is, I did very much enjoy that rom until I was having issues with the LED light staying on everytime I closed the keyboard :( So I flashed to Ti-X speedy and have been satisfied so far but I'm thinking about trying something else soon :)

Yeah, it's the executive edition. I really like it. Probably the nicest rom I've run on any phone.

The led is a known bug in all MikShifted ROMs. All you have to do is swipe down around the notification tray to clear it.

MIUI FTW!

I should know better than to keep derailing this thread... Anyway, I just really like sense. I love the dialer, I like the look of it, and the widgets. I know there are apps to emulate it in the market, but it just seems like HTC has it nailed (for me anyway) I don't know if MIUI would do it for me.

Ha.. I played right in to it. Back to topic for Sense users :D

I received the message to update but I decided to wait and hit cancel... Now I can't find the update on my phone. I've tried going into Settings>System Updates... and there is absolutely nothing.

Keep trying... I know sometimes it takes a while to get it to register that there is an update available.

I don't mean to get off topic, but I am new to rooting HTC devices. I traded in my GB 2.3.3 Evo Shift which was having the reloading issue for an Evo 3d and my daughter upgraded to a new shift from Best Buy which is on Froyo 2.2. I was thing about the easy root on this page here and either the x99 Rom or Milk Shift ROM. Which has less issues. I want her to have a smooth ROM and the ability to remove a few bloat ware apps. I had ROM for my old Samsung Moment and they weren't always smooth.

Please advise.

I am using mikshift executive v1.4. It has zero issues to date. I love it. I cannot speak to x99, as I have not tried it...
