New update?

Hey guys, I have an unbranded HTC desire (using the goldcard method) and I received a notification for an update today (I am currently running 2.29.405.2).

I tried installing it but got a phone icon with a red exclamation mark in a red triangle. Anyone else have info in regards to this update?

It's been out a while. No one debranded has managed to update ota with a goldcard, as the countless threads on here indicate

I thought those threads were regarding issues when updating to 2.29.405.2, not the following update. If this is not the case then I apologize.

No worries.

Seems the only way to upgrade to the .5 is to use an RUU of it, which will wipe your phone. But it will work with a goldcard.

Depends how much you feel you need it. I would suggest its probably not worth the hassle.

No, there is no such thing.

In the future you should clearly state that you have a debranded phone. Your phone is NOT unbranded.

I have an unbranded phone. I bought it that way (unlocked and unbranded) from newegg.

They are not the same. I have no problems getting updates. However, people who bought a carrier version of the phone and then debranded it have issues with the latest OTA updates.


So, just be clear to avoid confusion. Thanks
