New user - few q's re bluetooth/sms/profiles

hi all new to forum, just signed up as got my first android phone an htc desire.

Few basic things i was hoping the more experienced users could answer.

1. Can you get an app that turns bluetooth on and off at specific times of day, i only need it on for the drive to from work

2. How do you set bi-weekly appointments in the calender? Also why does it ask where to put appointments it lists myphonebook, my calender etc, google, which should you use?

3. Are there only 3 profiles? silent vibrate and normal? they dont seem very customisable

4. How do you get a favourite sms list as in the people you most text? On my SE C905 it used to sotre the last 5 or so recipients so it was quick to text them instead of looking them up in the phonebook. On the HTC i have to search the phone book by entering the first two letters of the contact (if i enter just the first like 'D' it finds all instances of d not just those beginning with d)

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer

Try "Volume Toggle(free)" By Emis Siko app from the market that gives customisable volume options so far it seems ok for me

in the people app you can create groups,

1. make a new group called 'text favourites' or something.
2. add the people you want in the group to that group.
3. create a new 'people' widget on one of your home screens
using the group 'text favourites'. big or small, its up to you.
4. Now, the first time (and only the first time) you click on one
of the people in the widget it will ask you the default action you
want associated with the contact, choose 'send message'.
5. You can now use this widget as a texting shortcut.

Make a new folder, and inside that folder place shortcuts to "direct messaging"
I have a page dedicated to "direct dialling". It asks for the primary number to use and all I do is press the icon and it dials.
The same can be done for messaging.
Hope this helps.
Cheers

I use an app called tasker (Tasker for Android) which can change all sorts of android settings (including bluetooth on/off) based on other conditions (time, detection of wifi networks etc).

It's currently in the process of changing from a free beta to a paid app, which means it's not quite in the Market yet but you can download a 2 week trial from the site i mentioned above.

I've just found my first use for folders, and how they work. Cheers!

How do you label the folders / create new ones? I've looked briefly in EStrong. I'd like to label one, texts, emails, calls.
