Root New User, root questions

Hi All, I'm new to these forums, and I've been searching the internet all day for a solution to my problem and I have come up with nothing, so I'm reaching out to you guys for help, any of which is greatly appreciated.

The dilemma:
Back when I first got my droid, I had a friend root it for me and replace the Kernel with a ChevyNo1 kernel overclocked at 1.1 GHz, everything was happy and fluffy and I was enjoying my Droid very much up until I got an OTA update from google themselves saying it is a flash supported update and to download flash from the market afterwards blah blah blah...

So, I download the update thinking that it will make my phone even happier and full of unicorns and bunnies, but what I got was just the opposite...SetCPU now reads 550MHz and I tried looking everywhere for the problem or how to solve it, and got no help....

Upon my research, I ran across some Android terms including FRG22D, FRG01b, FRG22...I have no idea what these things mean, so if someone could help me out, I would greatly appreciate it...I want my bunnies back, damnit.

Welcome to the Android Forums!

Normally it's best to post this sort of question in the subforum specific for your phone. What brand/model Droid do you have?

Sorry about that, I tried to find the most appropriate section and this seemed like it.

I have the original DROID by Motorola from Verizon.

OK, what happened was this: You reverted to a stock ROM, which does not allow for overclocking b/c you have no root access, which you need for overclocking.

bad news - this happens whenever you revert to stock.

good news - you can always root again and go back to the wonderful world of battery consumption and superfast screen swiping.

Read this thread for a lot more detail about what rooting is and how to go about doing it - then come back and post any new questions you have - and you'll have a lot....
