Help New User with a Question

Hi.
I have got a htc wildfire. Does anyone know how to get individual alert tones so i know who is texting me without looking. I am new to android phones so please be gentle

There are a few apps on the Android market that allow you to set different tones for different contacts. Handcent is one of the most popular ones, very good at what it does but takes abit of configuring to get it working properly.

+1 for Handcent. I have it running on a Nexus One, but don't see why it should be any different. With FroYo you can also change the colour of the trackball depending on who the text is from.
