Hi folks new user here and new to smart phones. I have just upgraded from a samsung tocco ultra and my new Desire will be with me sometime tomorrow. Although i know my way around a computer and have rebuilt my own over the years, i havent got a clue about smart phones or where to start when mine arrives tomorrow. Indeed after browsing various forums and reading peoples probs i am beginning to wonder if i have done the right thing by upgrading. At the moment the only thing I have decided is i want a ebook reader on my phone. Any tips on how to get started and what to do and what not to do would welcome.

Enjoy your new phone, it is a great piece of hardware!
Once you run out of memory for apps then ask on here for various ways to remove the limits.

Just to add, generally with a stock Desire they are pretty good reliability wise.
Once you start playing around with them like most of us do if you have a love of gadgets and messing about with them then you'll love Android and it's almost limitless customisation.
It requires a bit of a technical aptitude but messing around (and messing up on occasions) the phone is all part of the fun as far as I'm concerned :)

To be honest, the best way to get started with it is just to play with it, explore everything and if you get any questions have a search on here first, if you can't find what you need then ask!

P.S. And trust us when we say, you have done a good thing by upgrading to Android!

You will get plenty of friendly support here. I would start with apps and stuff.

All of the guides and tutorials are a good place to start reading if you get board quick.

But definitely made the right choice. Options are plenty with android lol.

Once you start learning about flashing custom ROM's and stuff you'll need to cut down to a part time job incase your get addicted lol ;)

Thanks folks, it arrived a couple of hours ago and is now on charge.Itching to get started :) No doubt i will be back pretty sharpish with lots of questions.

I'm sure loads on here will happy on here to help.

Trying to remember what stock Sense looks like in case I can answer anything lol
