So I picked this up yesterday and will be letting the MT3G slide collect dust(until I miss the keyboard) My question is will doing the update to 2.2 improve my battery life beyond its horrid 5 hours of use? the slide was lasting me at least 12 hours. Also is there something in the settings to get rid of the sweep to unlock and maybe something responsive? Also, why is it the phone locks, but doesnt sleep after a missed call? I suspect it does it other times, but I know for sure it will stay up all night if I miss a call...will 2.2 solve this?
 
2.2 didn't seem to make much difference at all. I agree the battery life is pretty bad but I can usually get thru a full day. I saw a tip somewhere about using a black wallpaper to I just covered the camera lens & took a picture then used that for my wallpaper. I think it helps.

Look on the market for No Lock.

I like Swift Keyboard. It's auto-correction and "next word prediction" are very good.
 
I just miss having physical keys lol. This swype is leaps and bounds better than the crap you get after doing the 2.2 update on a MT slide. The thing that is killing me is the screen/display eating battery...problem is if its in my pocket or im away from it the screen stays awake after a missed call, and takes forever to sleep after a notification.

I use an app called Easy Answer Button. Love it HTH.
 
Ugh...if it wasnt for the camera this would be back up phone for the mytouch. Is there any logical reason that an update from 2.1 to 2.2 would make the phone this laggy? 3G is profoundly slow on this phone being down to %74 battery an hour and 45 minutes after I unplugged it seems rediculous too for sending 15 texts and a little market browsing
