Help New voicemail notification problem

I have had an annoying 'New Voicemail' notification for a couple of weeks now. I have no idea how to get rid of it as no 'clear' option is showing up. I have tried calling the voicemail, but to no avail. Could I please get some help or advice with this?

Is it the normal new voicemail notification, or does it look slightly different at all (I'm thinking it's some sort of push advertising)?

I take it nothing happens if you click on it?

I am certain it is real as it only shows up when my sim card is in and when I tap it, it takes me to my voicemail

With my network, I can save VM's as opposed to deleting them. When I do that they appear as a notification in the bar. You've not inadvertently saved one instead of deleting it have you?

Kinda stumped otherwise.

I have no idea. I havn't set up my voicemail and I don't intend to. Is there a way around this? Otherwise I won't bother cos I'm lazy like that. Thanks
