Help New Vortex - some questions

1) My Blackberry charger cords are exactly the same and fit the Vortex-the screen indicates "charging". Will this cause any problems as they are not "official" LG cords?

2) Is there a way on the Vortex to program the phone to shut off and on at a given time (the Blackberry did this).

3) Can someone explain what "rooted" means?

Thanks!

1)Why would you use your BB cords? The Vortex does come with a charger. But no, you do not have to use LG specific cords to charge your phone.
2)There is not a program like this on a stock Vortex. The only ones I have seen in the Market have to do with "airplane" mode.
3)The term "rooted" basically means to gain administrative access to your phone. It allows you to delete any app on your phone (all the bloatware),and preform a myriad of other tasks that you would otherwise not be able to preform.

I want to bring one of the charger cords to work-When I plugged the Vortex into my computer via the USB cord, it immediately downloaded something (a driver, I think) on to my computer without asking me first and I don't want to risk this happening on a work computer. So I want to use my wall-plug-in charger at work.

Check the voltage and amps output on that particular charger. The mini-USB cable is completely universal, but you want to make sure the output of the charging module itself is close to that of your Vortex, and I'm pretty sure you don't want the ratings to go over the Vortex charger ratings or else you could fry the phone and/or battery, whereas a few ticks under spec wouldn't hurt the battery. Then again, I could be wrong about that.
