new xbl dashboard

The other thing I noticed (and something that may have occured over the last few updates since I turned my XBox on), is the amount of advertising has increased. Zune marketplace is everywhere!

I assume it's in preparation for the 150Euro Xbox Live Platinum service that's coming soon.

Will check it out later today, I'm not sure what to expect - but will come out with my new cents when its out.

But in overall term, I don't mind them switching the layout a bit. Though I really enjoyed the last one (the one I currently use)

I'm like most of you, and don't care about Kinect ant this point. I've been running the beta version of the new db for quite a while now, and I honestly like it quite a bit. Even though Kinect seems to be geared towards a more kiddie crowd, the new dashboard seems to have matured IMO.

My only complaint really is how bright it is. If it was a little bit dimmer, I would be perfectly content with it.

They need to improve the speed of the guide. It's ridiculous how long it takes to come up. Speed is important when you want to join a friend's session before the room gets full.

The new look looks older than the previous version. White is outdated looking. Even Apple switched to Black.

Dunno why so many people are having issues with speed. Mine operates just fine.
Same, I never notice a difference.
The guide didn't get slower with the update, but it was never fast. I have had 3 different XBoxes (first gen, first gen refurb, and a brand new one that I bought about a month ago) and the guide always hesitates. Every other XBox I have used has the same issue. I doubt yours is any faster. In fact, I'd put money on that.

It's not a huge issue until you're trying to do things mid-game or if you are trying to join a friend's session before the last spot fills up.

Where did I state that mine was faster than anyone elses? If you noticed, I said that it operates just fine. Seems like people just love to complain for the sake of complaining these days.

Hmm, I think the new xlive is okey. I felt it was bit too white and bright!

But other then that, no complaints really - run just as fast as the old one.

I switched my Xbox on for the first time in months and it took over 30 minutes to update, the dashboard is even laggier than before, and I have no interest in Kinect or it's kiddie games.

So no, it's lame and worthless, and a backwards step.

Anyone want to buy a Xbox360 Elite? I really have no use for mine since getting a PS3 and having a PC.

MS is full of backwards steps latly... maybe we'll be lucky and they'll listen to customers some day.

I wish there was a way to remove ads and things you don't really care for to stream line it a bit. As far as the new look its different but not by much other than the avatar (look wise) all that changed is that the menus aren't at that slight slant they were at before. I don't know about you guys but the time i spend in the dashboard is minimal so it's not a big deal as long as I can find what I need, so those blasting Microsoft over a minor design change should calm down and go back to watching Christopher Lowell if design is your main concern. The games and multiplayer are still good and the new ESPN app is amazing.

As far as speed is concerned I have not noticed a lag issue with the update. But after experiencing the issue where the avatar items I unlocked weren't available for about 24 hours, it wouldn't surprise me if there are things MS still needs to address.

It will always be things MS will need to address just as it always will be things sony need to address with their PSNetwork.

Though, I might take a proper look today at the meny's, but for my minimum time spending. I haven't noticed much either way yet

The ONLY change I care to see that's been the same since the stupid thing came out is the size of the files when you scroll. I use Xbox 360's for front end media streamers at three locations and have a couple TB of movies & shows that I have on a PC in another office. It's quite frustrating when we have company and scroll through the movies and it only displays like 7 per page. These need to be much smaller so that you can view about 3x that amount per page. There's no reason to have them that big unless people with bad eyesight are trying to run this on their Nokia cell phone. I doubt this will change since it would be a useful upgrade when M$ appears to be stuck on useless upgrades and ways to sell you more chit.

Where did I state that you claimed yours was faster? Oh wait, I didn't!

I simply said I'm sure you experience the same hesitation when pressing the guide button that all of us face. Just because it is not an issue in your opinion doesn't mean it's not a valid complaint. And I certainly am not complaining just for the sake of complaining as you are suggesting.

It's implied in your statement. Anyways, it's not that big of a deal. If your friend is playing a game and you can't get in, the friend should leave the game or finish the game. Send out invites from the party room instead of going into a game and sending invites. I thought that part was at least common sense.
