Hello people i have just got the galaxy nexus after having the htc deisre for 18months.... i was wondering what things are worth doing with my new phone and how do i get all my apps from my desire to my new galaxy nexus? :D so far i am pleased with my phone and i most likely will root the phone after i have played with it for a bit

i would root it and get titanium back up.... i have found that app to be a life saver. in my signature is a link to the paid version but there is a free one. If you had Titanium backup on your old phone that would have brought all your apps over for you automatically. but i android sync itself with old androids but i dont know about the htc

Once you sign in to your google account on your GN, all your downloaded apps (from your HTC) should auto-install on the GN (w/ the exception of some that might not be 4.0 compatible).

That is what i thought but it dont seem to be downloading them. I have still got my sim card in my htc desire as i am still going to use it till my case and screen protector comes ?

If you plan to root anyway, I would at least go ahead and unlock the boot loader now, before you get your phone all set up. Unlocking the boot loader will erase EVERYTHING on your phone, including everything on the virtual SD card. You can always root later, as that won't erase anything.

is it worth rooting as when i rooted my deisre i olny put one custom rom on it and that was a leedroid but as far as apps go i did not really benifit from rooting ?
