Help Newb question about updating to Froyo

I had a quick question before I update a phone I just purchased. It's running eclair 2.1. It's an unlocked t-mobile branded phone running on a different network.

My question is if I update to Froyo 2.2 would it affect the phone in anyway? Like Brick it or lock it again?

It will probably unlock the phone.. think of it as when each time a iPhone update comes out(every dam 2 days!lol) it will always unjilbreak the iwhatever it is. Same thing I believe as your android phone
