Hey guys, thanks in advance for a nice set of information on here, but I can't seem to figure out what to do at this point.
So I was studying how to root since yesterday and read up, rooted today (according to Shiny's guide and using the "Clockwork Recovery and RaidZero Recovery" on the main index) and everything seemed to go well.
Then, everything seemed to go to hell from there. I continued with the guide, which said that I should do an immediate backup in recovery mode before anything else, so I started with that.
I downloaded the Quick Boot app, but when I use that, my phone reboots, shows me the "open box with an arrow pointing to the android mascot" for a second, and then reboots. It does this about 3 times, then shows me an exclamation with the android mascot, and all I can do is reboot the phone normally.
I researched...saw some instructions on the "[CWM][ROOT][RZR] Root & Recovery AIO - UPDATED 2-19-2012" thread that said alternatively I could boot holding the +- volume and power button, and that I should press the power button 2-3 times after and I'd be in recovery. I also read "dont freak out, it wont erase your data" and so I followed those instructions.
Well, it wiped out everything, and I didn't get to make a backup. Annoying, but ok, had my contacts saved elsewhere, will re-install all the apps.
Now though, I just want to be able to get into recovery if I need to, so I don't have to deal with an event like this in the future. In other words, I'd like to be able to make a backup from recovery. The phone still does the multi-reboot thing when I use Quick Boot, and I don't really want to try the "hard" boot again.
Any pointers?
