Root Newb to rooting...need help

Hey guys, thanks in advance for a nice set of information on here, but I can't seem to figure out what to do at this point.

So I was studying how to root since yesterday and read up, rooted today (according to Shiny's guide and using the "Clockwork Recovery and RaidZero Recovery" on the main index) and everything seemed to go well.

Then, everything seemed to go to hell from there. I continued with the guide, which said that I should do an immediate backup in recovery mode before anything else, so I started with that.

I downloaded the Quick Boot app, but when I use that, my phone reboots, shows me the "open box with an arrow pointing to the android mascot" for a second, and then reboots. It does this about 3 times, then shows me an exclamation with the android mascot, and all I can do is reboot the phone normally.

I researched...saw some instructions on the "[CWM][ROOT][RZR] Root & Recovery AIO - UPDATED 2-19-2012" thread that said alternatively I could boot holding the +- volume and power button, and that I should press the power button 2-3 times after and I'd be in recovery. I also read "dont freak out, it wont erase your data" and so I followed those instructions.

Well, it wiped out everything, and I didn't get to make a backup. Annoying, but ok, had my contacts saved elsewhere, will re-install all the apps.

Now though, I just want to be able to get into recovery if I need to, so I don't have to deal with an event like this in the future. In other words, I'd like to be able to make a backup from recovery. The phone still does the multi-reboot thing when I use Quick Boot, and I don't really want to try the "hard" boot again.

Any pointers?

The recovery didnt flash. Retry flashing CWR or RZR or download rom manager (free on the store) and open the app at the top press flash recovery and then select LGE Esteem from the list when it downloads itll ask you if you want to flash it and flash it.

are you the one i got up and going from EM? just curious.

Phew...talk about a stressful day. Got back to work after getting my phone somewhat back on par, and tried to log in here...couldn't. Turns out I was so concerned about my phone that I mispelled the name I was going to use.

Anyway, no, I haven't had any issues until now, so it wasn't me you helped, but I'll give you a thank you anywho ;)

I've got a new issue that maybe someone knows something about. I'm using NQ Security to back up my apps and remove them individually (the reason I rooted in the first place). I removed crap apps that I never use..."my music," "finance," and various other junk. Everything was going great until suddenly my phone didn't want to work properly.

Things that were messed up:

- Would not dial out when I pressed the phone button (next to someone's name).
- The time on the lock screen wasn't the same as the time on the top corner. The one on the top corner was wrong.
- Bluetooth kept crashing and wasn't syncing with my car.
- Text wasn't being accepted from the keyboard into the text message box.

So I rebooted...same. Went back and re-added all the crap apps that I removed, and it came back to normal. I decided to reduce the number of apps I was removing and try and track down the one that was causing the issue, but it seems that having removed just about any app causes the issue.

Is there something I'm missing here? Does the OS call these apps somehow or something?

"My music" are you refering to the stock music player? if so dont delete that. Its tied into bluetooth. And did you flash a rom?
