Hello, I am new to this forum, smart phone and Android and I am looking for the method to backup my Thunderbolt. I would eventually like to root the phone after research, but first I need to make sure I get a recoverable back-up. Thanks!
root it first. other than that, all your contacts are stored to your gmail account and will be restored when you sign in once you're rooted. then once rooted, you can create a back up that will restore your settings to the exact way they were when you want.
Without a doubt Titanium Backup Pro. And it's worth the money to upgrade to pro, you get what you pay for. However, you will need to root your bolt in order to use it.
Image based back ups in Rom Manager are truly the best method for full bare metal recovery. The others will restore apps and settings but not the whole boat at once.
A combination of both is really the way to go. Titaniam Pro for local data and apps. Rom Manager for nandroid images for full ROM recovery.
This way when your rooted and you start flashing ROMs 3 a day .. you'll have the ability to quickly create an image of your latest stable ROM / setup. That way when you need to roll back you can.... with ease.
