Help Newbie firmware question.

I got my Droid X a month ago and love it. Did everything I think I'm supposed to do so far to get the most out of it. Installed a System Task Killer, Titanium for backups, donated my money to get the full version, and added a few more things to help.

I'm on 2.1. I've seen 2.3.15, 2.3.9, 2.2, all of them talked about and everyone has an opinion. Is it better to have the leaked over the OTA from Verizon? Will this kill my root if I switch? Suggestions?? If this is redundant, I apologize. Just looking for someone to sit down and say "Here, do this, this, and this." Super, thanks!

1) Task Killers, imo, STINK. They make the system unstable and are unnecessary. Don't ask me why Verizon recommends them.

2) As I understand, 2.2.15 OTA has a radio fix of sorts, software related. It is available online at the 928Droid.com website. I recommend it, if you d/l it ota, too. There's a one step easy peasy root for it, anyway. I'd do it. Wait. I did do it! .

I just decided to move from the 2.3.15 leak to the OTA and I have had no issues. After the OTA, it took me 20 minutes to get it rooted, install ROM Manager, and Bootstrap Recovery and another 30 to install rubiX Focused 0.3 and restore the apps I wanted from Titanium. I am getting ready to apply a theme now. I would say go for the OTA, but I would SBF first to make sure there is no problem.

To deodex, you can use 928Droid's Deodexing deodexing theme or you can deodex manually with this tutorial.

You can also use P3's Tranquility 2.3.7 or drod2169's rubiX Focused 0.3 which are blurless ROMs that will deodex you as well (2 for 1).
