Hi All,

I just bought my first Andriod (MMX A70 due to budget contraints :) ) and the first impression is quite good. And I'm completely new to this Andriod stuff so some help/suggestions required from the experts here:

1. I went through a posts here. Did the following:
a) Rooted with z4root
b) Backed up ALL application + data with Titanium
c) Uninstalled few unwanted software: ebuddy, mi apps, moneycontrol, mundutv & newshunt.

Backup of entire system with ClockWorkMod pending (no access to net now)
Anything else missing guys?

2. I'm very confused with closing apps. For example, in Opera Mini i donot see any "Exit" or "Close" button. Just using "Back" button for now. Am I missing something?

3. Is there anything like Task Manager to list all running apps (Setting -> Applications does not look so user friendly... correction... new-user friendly).

4. Default keyboard isn't all bad but I read a lot about SlideIt, BetterKeyboard, Gingerbread Keyboard etc. I send about 50msgs per day. Any suggestions for a keyboard better than existing one?

5. Is the FM Radio any good? I still have my old Q5fb at my workdesk and radio works perfect. Scan of radio stations and manually setting the frequency still didn't work on A70. Anything wrong here? I dont want to use Internet Radio as I have low network connectivity at work.

opera mini don't have exit button.
Don't use task manager.
Use init.d scripts instead of task manager.
Its not an alternative to task manager but a minfree manager.
Yes radio is less powerful.
My a70 does not catches 2 channels which are easily caught by my transistor.
Use Swype keyboard

exactly... moreover auto-scan saves frequency with no station running on it

Use Swype keyboard
will try this right away...

don't use the any task accelerater
cause they consume more battery

Then we can find problem and give solution to it.. .. .. .. .. :) :)

HIT THE THANKS BUTTON, IT WILL COST NOTHING. TRY IT..

1. Settings -> Wireless & networks -> Mobile Network
a) Data connectivity -> ENABLED
b) Network Mode: GSM/WCDMA preferred
c) Access Point: Tried both Vodafone GPRS and Live

2. Background data: ENABLED (Has to enabled when tried to access Market app)

3. Deleted APNs and sent message "S IMEI Number" to 52586, but got a reply that unable to push GPRS settings onto my device.

1. got settings online for vodafone gprs... added manually

2. access to internet from "browser" works perfect!!!

3. opera mini 6.0, market app, saavn etc still reporting connection failure....

After some trail and error, I found the following:

1. Apps & Opera were unable to connect to internet when using "Vodafone Live" APN. Only "Browser" works fine.
GPRS connection could be checked by opening http://live.vodafone.in.

2. Apps & Browser (did not check on Opera as its uninstalled now) are able to connect to internet only while using "Vodafone GPRS" APN.
http://live.vodafone.in will not work here.

3. "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery" reports connection failure with either of the APNs. Will give a trywhen at home tonight, where network connectivity is better than that at office.

Cmw and all other will work on APNs. Which have proxy in it

Only stock browser, ucweb and operamobile can load pages with proxy apns

Try vodagone gprs

As I am using bsnl and I can't use bsnllive (proxy apn)for cwm

I have to use bsnlnet

unable to connect to internet through vodafone gprs/live
tried resetting APN to default but with no success.... not sure what's wrong... any help?

what is the error massage you are getting
I mean vodafone is working just fine for me

and did you set check the data connectivity option in settings
I mean if its still uncheck than check it that might be a problem

Hi Manish,

i've seen exactly what ams04 has said...

most of the apps do not work with APNs that use proxy... in case of Vodafone its Vodafone Live

when I switch to Vodafone GPRS its fine now... i think I had messed up with my GPRS settings... message to vodafone was replied as "unable to push gprs settings to my device"...

later i found this "Restore to Default" option in phone settings.. deleted all the APNs and did a restore... now works fine...

tried CWM but still failed with connection of server failure... think its just abt bad connectivity... planning to switch to 3g coming month....
